Dear Parents and Carers,
This week, I must start by extending a most sincere thank you to everyone in our school community who made Harvest food donations over the past week. I am pleased to share that due to your kindness and support, we were able to hand a large number of items to the Hatfield Foodbank, helping families in need within our community. Your contributions will make a real difference and also show the power of coming together to help others.
Today I am also making further pleas to our parents and carers! Firstly, we currently have two parent governor vacancies to fill. Being a parent governor is a rewarding way to be actively involved in the life of the school and to help shape its future. As a parent governor, you will bring a valuable perspective to the governing body, representing the views of other parents and supporting the school in making key decisions that impact children's learning and wellbeing. It is a chance to work closely with school leaders, gain a deeper understanding of how the school runs, and contribute to creating the best possible environment for all your children to thrive. I can also promise you the finest biscuit selection at our termly meetings! So whether you are new to our community or if your child has been at De Havilland for a longer period of time, please do put yourself forward using this link for consideration and help me and our team drive the school forward.
Secondly, I need to speak with you regarding our PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) more commonly known as 'FODs' (Friends of De Havilland). As you know, a number of events are planned across the year to raise money for the school, perhaps most famously our very own 'De Hav' fest. I would like to place on record my thanks to Katie Foster and her team for several events organised during the last academic year and we now need someone to take on the role for this year. If you are interested in this side of school life, please have a read of the correspondence which Miss Sanders will be sharing with you next week and join us at our first AGM on Tuesday 4th November at 3:30 pm. We would be delighted to have you join us! No experience is needed - just enthusiasm and a willingness to help.
If you wish to speak with me or any of our senior leaders about the roles, we will be present throughout the parent consultation evenings the week after next.
Wishing you all a very pleasant weekend and I look forward to seeing all of the children on Monday.
Mr. Bostock
